Rabbi Harold Sutton – Rosh Yeshiva ראש ישיבה

Rabbi Sutton studied at the Yeshivah of Flatbush, followed by two years of study at the Beit Midrash LeTorah in Jerusalem. He earned a degree in Psychology from Yeshiva University and studied towards a Master's degree in Judaic studies at New York University. During that time, he met Rabbi Shimon Alouf and began to study with him on a daily basis for many years.

Rabbi Sutton received Semicha from Hakham Ovadia Yosef, Hakham Meir
Mazuz and Hakham Shimon Alouf. He served as the Rabbi of Cong. Bnei Yitzhak in Brooklyn, NY for 15 years, as well as Assistant Rosh Yeshiva of Magen David Yeshiva for 10 years. In 1998, Rabbi Sutton was named the Rosh Yeshiva of the Sephardic Rabbinical College alongside Hakham Shimon Alouf. As of 2015, Rabbi Sutton has been the Rosh Yeshiva of Magen David Yeshiva, Rosh Yeshiva of the Sephardic Rabbinical College, and the Rabbi of Cong. Hochma U’Mussar.

Rabbi Sutton teaches Halacha in the Sephardic Rabbinical College as well as seminars in Jewish Philosophy and other topics. Rabbi Sutton serves as Rabbi of  the SCA minyan and summer learning program since 2009.

Rabbi Yehoshua Shani - Executive Director מנהל

​Rabbi Shani, a resident of Kiryat Arba, studied at Yeshivat HaKotel and graduated from the Lifshitz Teachers' College. In the past, he served as principal of the Orot Etzion school in Efrat. He was the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Barkai in New York and principal of the Reishit Chochma school in Moscow.

Rabbi Yaakov Tessler - Assistant Rosh Yeshiva/ר"מ

Rav Tessler learned for eleven years in Yeshivat Merkaz Harav and was a close talmid of the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Yaakov Shapira. He holds a Bachelors of Education in both Talmud and History from Orot Yisrael College. He currently lives in Kiryat Moshe (minutes from the Yeshiva!) with his wife and four children.

Rabbi Tanchum Gold - Morning Seder Rabbi

Born in Chicago,Rabbi Gold moved to Israel at a young age. He studied and taught at Yeshivat Birkat Moshe in Ma’ale Adumim for 15 years and served as an infantry soldier in the IDF. Rabbi Gold holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Talmud and Tanach, and received his Semicha (Yoreh Yoreh/Yadin Yadin) from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He has served as Rabbi of the American program in Yeshivat Birkat Moshe since 2010, teaches in the Yeshiva’s Kollel, and has actively sat as a Dayan in the local Beit Din for the past two years.

Rabbi Yitzchak Mirsky – Morning Seder Rabbi

Committed to harbatzat Torah, Rabbi Mirsky articulates a worldview which embraces Klal Yisrael. Born in Jerusalem, a student of Rabbi Yechezkel Sarna of Yeshivat Chevron in Jerusalem, Rabbi Mirsky was the Rosh Yeshiva of BMT and longtime educator of many students from the Sephardic community. To continue his mission of harbatzat Torah, Rabbi Mirsky moved to Brooklyn in 2003 where he officiated as Rosh Kollel of the Sephardic Rabbinical College and taught Semicha students who are today practicing members of the Rabbinate. Rabbi Mirsky returned to Israel in 2007 where he continues to be involved in educating our youth. He is the author of the well-known series "Hegyonei Halacha" and "Haggadat Hegyonei Halacha”. His latest work, the "Haggadah leSepharadim" was published in 2014. Today, Rabbi Mirsky lives in Jerusalem where he continues to teach and write.

Edward Benjamin - Night Seder Staff

​Edward Benjamin graduated Hillel Yeshiva High School in 2012 and attended Yeshivat Torah Shraga for a year. He then attended and graduated Cuny BA with a degree in Philosophy and Jewish Studies. While working in Moreshet, Edward is also pursuing semikha from the Chief Rabbinate in Israel and has to date passed the rabbinic exam on avelut. He is also studying towards a master's degree in Jewish education at Yeshiva University's Azrieli School of Jewish Education.
